The first Monday of August means football in Texas. From dawn until dusk, high school teams around the state started official practices for the first time, per UIL regulations. Some local teams tried to beat the heat in the morning, while other schools ran through some scattered rainfall in the afternoon. No matter when the teams got going, intensity was high for coaches and players as they took the field for the first time. Regular-season games begin in less than a month, so there's no time to waste.
