Golfers in Beaumont and Port Arthur might wonder how their hometown stacks up with other golf destinations nationwide.A new study claims to have answered that question. Analysis from Golf Workout Program ranks the Beaumont-Port Arthur metro area 83rd among all mid-sized cities in the United States. The study took into consideration local weather, golf courses and country clubs per capita, sporting goods stores per capita and total PGA Tour events hosted in the last five years. Other mid-sized metros in Texas that ranked higher than Beaumont-Port Arthur included Corpus-Christi (24), El Paso (42), Brownsville-Harlingen (45), Kileen-Temple (46) and McAllen-Edinburg-Mission (48).
